TXT ME is an award-winning verbatim gig-theatre piece researched by Emma, and co-written and performed by Emma, Lucy Harrower, and Imogen Stirling about CCTV footage captured outside a North Ayrshire Pub.
Featuring music by Van Ives, the poetry of Robert Burns, Ayrshire TripAdvisor reviews, and anonymous text responses to a poster campaign, TXT ME explores feeling safe, and the harsh realities of our idols as a Nation.
This piece was recorded as a piece of digital theatre at the Ayr Gaiety, supported by the Scottish New Companies Award and funded by North Ayrshire Council. The larger showcase and online protest also platformed independent artists and their responses to the theme of feeling safe/unsafe, and hosted a Q&A with Ayrshire charities supporting survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
This project ran alongside a series of online writing workshops promoting creative empowerment.
TXT ME: Cyber Showcase and Online Protest won Best Production at the 2021 Emerging Scottish Theatre Awards
